The aim of the Australian Accordion Teachers Association Inc (AATA) is to promote the playing and enjoyment of the accordion. This is achieved by creating opportunities improve the standards of accordion playing and teaching in Australia with a particular focus on inspiring younger players to develop their musical skills.
Established in 1993, the association wishes to encourage music festivals, competitions, music examinations, master classes, and to present international level concert artists and competitors, so Australian accordion enthusiasts can see and hear the best players in the world. The association also wishes to build networks and foster relationships with other international accordion bodies to ensure that Australian accordionists have access to world class resources, repertoire and opportunities, all helping Australian accordionists to achieve higher standards.
It is our intention that all these activities will further develop the popularity of the accordion in our country and raise its profile as a versatile and serious musical instrument.
